I have been experimenting with this two column layout, as I think that it allows for space around the text and images, but fills the page appropriately.
I have made the type 8.5pt; from printing a few layouts, I could see that 10pt was much too large.




This is an example of a double page spread using the two column layout and the triple line motif. I think this is the strongest option I have come up with so far, I am going to pursue this design and hopefully take it further as the book develops.
